In what appear to be thinly veiled attempts at quality acting, Amber Heard is back on TV clawing tooth and nail to remain relevant and keep some semblance of her dignity intact. In her interview with Savannah Guthrie, which aired last Friday night, and which was probably seen by billions around the world, Heard is now claiming that there's a mystery journal kept by her therapist in which all the evidence she ever needed to convict Depp on charges of assault are stored.
There are several problems with Heard's response, however, including the fact that the crashing waves of disbelief of Heard's testimony across social media didn't come until AFTER she'd been in court giving that testimony.Â
In other words, when Heard responds to Savannah Guthrie's question by saying, "Would you? Look what happened to me," she's hoping that the American public is stupid enough to forget the timeline of events.Â
Before Heard found herself in court responding to Depp's allegations, she had a lot of support from the #MeToo movement behind her. It wasn't until after a lot of unknown facts were revealed that the public started to turn on her.
And rightly so. The types of evidence that came up were revelations that she'd taken a dump in Depp's bed; that she lied multiple times about donating her $7M divorce settlement to charity; that she'd physically assaulted Depp several times with objects she found nearby; that Kate Moss came out and confirmed that Heard had lied about Depp throwing her down the stairs; that their security guard had to shield Depp from Heard when she was abusing him; and that this same body guard actually had to remove Depp when those attacks became threatening to his life and safety.Â
And that's just a list I have from memory alone. I'm sure there are a ton of other very enlightening things that I and literally millions of other people realized throughout this court case. This, and not the notion that she somehow forgot to mention her shrink’s abuse journal, is what made the world turn on Heard as the real abuser, and the gold-digging liar that she is.
I still can't get over the fact that she thought she was going to get $100M from Johnny Depp after she pitched a loaf in the man's bed. But that just goes to show how completely removed from sanity that Amber Heard truly is.Â
This case could have gone the other way, too, if the preponderance of evidence actually sat in her favor. But the other problem with the statement that she made to Guthrie is that the case against Depp was just civil. If, in fact, there is new evidence, and if that evidence provides proof that Depp is guilty of abusing her, she can still file criminal charges against him. But that obviously hasn’t happened, because I’m pretty sure she’s just lying about that, too. Â
There's no conflict of interest between bringing a civil case and bringing criminal charges. There’s no competing clause in Virginia law. There’s no statute of limitations for assault that's passed since 2011 when she says the abuse began. There’s no law prohibiting both civil and criminal penalties to be leveled against an assailant or a former spouse in cases of domestic abuse.Â
It strikes me as quite odd that Heard has an entire team of lawyers at her disposal, who apparently know all sorts of ways to circumvent the challenges brought by the prosecution in her recent case. And yet I, with little more than access to the internet, was able to think of a legal strategy that would have completely upended Depp's entire case, if in fact her claims of abuse were true.Â
But I think it’s more safe to say that Heard is simply grasping at straws at this point. And I suppose we’re all relieved that those straws are no longer sticking out of the alcoholic beverages that she once used to pummel Depp - all while crying victim.
I suppose we'll just have to keep taking Amber Heard on her word. Oh, wait. We're not currently doing that at all, are we?Â
